Smithfield, Australia Spicy Bite Smithfield Full time

Spicy Bite is a restaurant in Smithfield, QLD serving delicious lunch and dinner. The restaurant specialises in Indian cuisine. We are looking for a chef to join our team full-time and be a part of the Spicy Bite gang.

Duties you will perform:

  • Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies.
  • Be responsible for quality control and tasting the dishes; making sure they are at the right standard and are presented correctly before they go out to the customer.
  • Discussing food preparation issues with managers, dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff.
  • Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures.
  • Preparing and cooking food.
  • Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations.
  • Selecting and training staff.
  • Managing freezing and preservation of food.
  • Creating a vision for the cuisine, inspiring your team and delegating tasks effectively.
  • Recruiting, motivating and managing staff.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ordering supply and undertaking the kitchen inventory (including budgeting).
  • Overseeing hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years relevant work experience.
  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Kitchen management.
  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene and OH&S Standards.
  • A professional presentation and approach.
  • A passion for food.
  • Ability to work closely with management to ensure the consistent high-quality service is provided.
  • A positive attitude with a strong work ethic and good communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and under pressure.
  • Innovative and organised.
  • Basic knowledge of Indian cuisine, desired.

Compensation and benefits:

  • Salary of $73,150.00 per year
  • Superannuation

Job Type: Full-time
