Exciting opportunity for an experienced Beauty Buyer to join a fun & supportive team within a fast-paced & dynamic trading environment

What you’ll be doing

As a Buyer working for Kmart, you are instrumental in sourcing the best possible products that bring meaningful moments into our customers lives.As the Beauty Buyer your primary department will be beauty which will also include accessories . You will be accountable for product development, whilst negotiating the best terms for Kmart as well as manage our existing brand portfolio. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders in order to drive sales and maximise profitability and further enhance our reputable beauty offering.

Our Buying team, in partnership with our Designers, Planners and Global Sourcing team are critical to delivering our business strategy and the success of Kmart. 
 
Some of the key responsibilities are:
 
•    Developing ranges to establish the appropriate balance of Price, Volume, basics, quality, innovation and trend to deliver strong category growth.
•    Ability to recognise and interpret trends and build ranges to ensure consistent brand handwriting.
•    Using commercial skills, combined with the ability to analyse customer's needs and research to effectively deliver long term strategic growth.
•    Managing the end -to-end Critical Path process across functions to meet instore dates.
•    Managing and using strategies to achieve the financial plans including sales, profit and stock turn.
•    Source and create new product development in line with the strategy through knowledge and expertise of the product and market
•    Negotiate the best possible terms with suppliers i.e. margin, trade discounts, markdown support 

•    Ensure that buying decisions are based on a sound commercial framework to drive sales and profits

•    Develop and maintain brand relationships to ensure that Kmart is  consistently presented with first to market .
•    Work closely with the Planner to plan the OTB and to monitor and review in season, taking action and making recommendations to the Buying Manager where necessary
•    Be responsible for range planning, working closely with the Planner and Business Manager
•    Manage existing brand portfolio through analysis of performance and close collaboration with brand partners, taking action when necessary and making decision to keep or discontinue within the business
•    You will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of the Kmart Beauty business ,from a deep understanding of market, consumer trends, vendor and competitor activity and Kmart business.  
•    We are looking for candidates who have an in-depth understanding of the beauty industry, with strong on the job experience, ideally a relevant  accreditation and a minimum of 5+years buying experience. Successful applicants will have a strong business acumen, with a understanding of the beauty supply chain and a clear understanding of beauty market trends -nationally and globally.
•    To be responsible for the ordering process within the area, ensuring compliance with all relevant processes 
•    You will be a in a role that is fast-paced team, with numerous strategic objectives to deliver in the coming Financial Year. You will manage the promotional trade plan and work closely with varied global and domestic suppliers as part of this high-performance team

•   You will have a well-developed and informed understanding of the beauty category, as well as the beauty industry.
•    Strategic and operational. With strong analytical skills and experience driving long-term and profitable commercial strategies, you’ll be able to successfully manage projects from ideation through to completion. 
•    Engaging and able to influence your stakeholders and know how to use both data and market trends to drive commercial opportunities .
•    Customer focused. Combined with exceptional taste and instinct, you are able to push the boundaries to offer new and exciting products.
•    All over the numbers with a highly commercial approach, as well as proficient in excel
•    Collaborative. Working flexibly as part of the wider buying team you will support in projects and cross functional meetings as appropriate.
•    Extensive Buying experience combined with trend awareness (within Beauty & Accessoriesis essential)
•    Commercial focus working in a dynamic fast paced team and highly driven and motivated.
•    Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
•    Proven success driving category growth and delivering increased profit.
•    Success oriented - you thrive in a team environment and enjoy being able to contribute to a business where you can drive further growth.

•     Conduct thorough research and analysis of the current beauty market to identify trending products and potential suppliers.Stay updated with beauty trends, innovations, and regulatory           changes affecting product availability and compliance.
