Carrum Downs, Australia Melbourne Water Full time

Who we are

In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life.

Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, run through a backyard sprinkler, or kayak down the Yarra—we’re there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world’s cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home —just as we have for almost 130 years.

If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what’s right, you're in the right place.

About the Role

Reporting to Manager ETP Process Improvement, this is a pivotal role within Melbourne Water’s Eastern Treatment Plant. As the Project Engineer you will be responsible for facilitating capital works and ensuring seamless project coordination as the Melbourne Water ETP operations representative.  You will support a variety of projects, from large-scale capital endeavours to medium and small projects. Your technical expertise and understanding of process plant operations will be vital in connecting the right people on-site and ensuring the successful execution of each project.

  • Stakeholder representation for capital projects, ensuring that the works meet the required functional and operational deliverables whilst minimizing whole of life costs to the business.
  • Comprehensive technical review input for capital projects at ETP. This input will run from the early concept design through detailed design and then to construction, commissioning and integration.
  • Provide interface between the project and operations teams, linking ETP technical knowledge to the projects.
  • Influence across multiple groups to produce optimal design and delivery outcomes for ETP, Melbourne Water and customers.

For more information, please see the attached PD:  MW0812_-_Position_Description_-_Project_Engineer_.pdf

Salary: MW EA Level 7 starting at $105,602

About you:

  • Possess technical expertise in the design or operation of complex continuous processing environments, including electrical, mechanical, process, and control systems.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality reports, effectively present written and oral responses to queries, and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational and coordination skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field, preferably chemical or mechanical engineering
  • Willing to undergo a Criminal Records Check, medical assessment, and security background check through AusCheck (this role is deemed critical under the SoCI ACT). Further information below*
