The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly-experienced Principle Software Architect to join Phantomworks Global to design and direct the development and integration of Software across the Phantomworks Global programs of work. You will be in a key technical leadership role, working closely with the business team, engineering teams, and customers to ensure timely and successful demonstration and delivery of cutting-edge capabilities to the end user community.

This role is based in the Brisbane CBD.

As a Principal Software Architect within Phantomworks Global, you will

  • Lead activities in the early concept stages to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • Oversee and approve rapid development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Oversee and establish software testing and deployment strategies to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Provide technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities.
  • Lead development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics.
  • Plan, execute and document software research and development projects.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
  • Tracks and evaluate software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Exceptional understanding and experience in the application of contemporary Software Engineering principles, methodologies, configuration management, toolsets, DevSecOps and integration
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed engineering teams and architects in a Defence environment
  • Be able to inspire, build cohesive teams and expect more of each person - Be a leader
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to engage, influence and negotiate at all levels with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and customers
  • Knowledge and experience of complex Airborne and/or Ground Support systems, including Mission Systems
  • Tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering and/or Computer Science.
