In your Data Engineering Practice Lead role you will be responsible for leading a team of data engineers to deliver high-quality mission-critical data platforms for our stakeholders.

You will use your expertise in Azure Data Factory, dbt, and Snowflake to design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines, data models, and data warehouses. You will also oversee the full delivery lifecycle, including planning, testing, deployment, and support. You will work closely with other practice leads, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure that the data solutions meet the business requirements and adhere to the best practices and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the data engineering practice and mentor the data engineering team.
  • Design and develop data solutions using Azure Data Factory, dbt, and Snowflake.
  • Implement data quality, data governance, and data security measures.
  • Optimize the performance, scalability, and reliability of the data solutions.
  • Manage the full delivery lifecycle, including planning, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Maintain Asset Lifecycle Management practices.
  • Collaborate with other practice leads, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and integration of the data solutions.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in the data engineering field.

Key Stakeholders

  • Reports to Head of Architecture and Common Platforms
  • Works with Head of Data to ensure that data provided via key platforms is a available when and where it is needed
  • Works with IT practice leads to ensure best practice is followed in key technical areas and provide technical resource to the Data Engineering Practice as required:
  • Testing
  • Platform Engineering
  • Integration
  • BA
  • Works with other business stakeholders and IT leaders as required

You will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in data engineering, preferably in a consulting or professional services environment.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Azure Data Factory, dbt, and Snowflake.
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Experience in data modeling, data warehousing, and data quality.
  • Experience in leading and managing data engineering teams and projects.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
