The Role
Due to internal relocation & promotion, ALS Environmental at Wangara is currently seeking a 2IC Organic Chemist , to work with the Senior Organic Chemist and lead the Organics team that strives to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time.

The day to day

Ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with the Quality Procedures Manual Supervision and training of Organics laboratory staff Ensuring production targets are met Ensuring high quality services to clients are maintained Prioritising daily workloads Monitoring instrument performance Ensuring compliance with the laboratory’s QC requirements Troubleshooting and problem solving with any aspects of the section Maintaining relevant documentation Maintaining supply of consumables to ensure the smooth running of the section Assisting the Organics supervisor with running the section efficiently Investigating ways to increase productivity and enhance the section via method and/or training improvements Help manage the team by optimizing staff numbers and cross training Assist with responses to client queries and corrective actions via responses to clients and working with the team to investigate
The Essentials
Committed to ‘Going the extra mile’ Solutions focussed Committed to ‘Quality without compromise’ At least 3-5 years’ experience in a commercial laboratory Demonstrated supervisory experience, preferably in the field of Environmental Science is desirable but not essential Experience with GCMS, GCFID or LCMSMS is preferred Successfully completed a Bachelor degree (Chemistry major preferred) Current NATA signatory is desirable A working knowledge of sample preparation techniques A working knowledge of lab safety requirements Preferably worked in a quality accredited environment A keen interest in organic analyses
