The Opportunity

We are currently hiring a Head of Engineering to lead the software engineering function within the delivery engineering team in Melbourne.

As a senior leader within the delivery function, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the product development teams in the region, which includes owning the development processes and tooling used in Melbourne. You will also work closely with stakeholders to ensure product delivery for the region is managed well and release plans are up-to-date. Additionally, the role requires a strong leader who can motivate and inspire the engineering team to achieve excellence while aligning with Gentrack's global product development practices.

In this role you can expect to:

Lead the day-to-day operations of Gentrack's product development teams in Australia, which includes owning the development processes and tooling used in the region. Work closely with stakeholders to ensure product delivery for the region is managed well, and release plans are up-to-date. Lead and manage a team of experienced engineering managers, tech leads and team leads who are responsible for 70+ people in the product development group in Melbourne. Be part of the global Product Development Senior Leadership Team, and be a key member of the regional Senior Leadership Team. Collaborate with the Product Director ANZ/Head of Product, Customer Success, Customer Delivery, Senior Sales and Account Managers, Principal Engineers, and the Head of Engineering UK to ensure global alignment in key areas. Represent Product Development in project governance groups and engage with senior customer stakeholders. Use your strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and agile mindset to motivate and inspire the product development team to achieve excellence. Continuously evaluate and improve development processes to ensure quality and growth while supporting the team and inspiring excellence.

What you need to be successful:

Experience in leading and managing a team of engineering managers and software developers in a product development environment. Strong technical background with experience in software engineering and development methodologies, such as Agile, and a clear understanding of the business’ bigger picture and commercial realities. A proven track record of successful product delivery within a SaaS environment. Experience in the utility domain or related industries with a good understanding of key utility processes, such as billing, metering, and customer management systems. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with senior customer stakeholders and represent Product Development in project governance groups. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate the product development team to achieve excellence. Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement in development processes and practices to ensure quality and growth.
