Why this role matters
The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven Specialist Practitioner in Family Violence, who will provide place based and outreach case management support to women and women with children who have experienced and/ or are currently experiencing family violence. The role also encompasses the delivery of intake, assessment and crisis response. The role will be in instrumental in delivering high quality, safe and effective family violence and child well-being responses to those seeking support, safety, and recovery. The Family Violence Services works with service users from a feminist perspective, aiming to empower and increase the safety of women and children.
You will successfully
- Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage self-determination and participation and uphold the principles of the National Family Violence Model of Care.
- Case management support is provided to clients in accordance with TSA case management models and standards of practice
- Ongoing assessment is made of the client’s issues, needs and circumstances from initial intake to exit
- Individual case plans are developed in collaboration with clients and include a range of interventions that address the needs or goals of clients
- Case plans are implemented and actively led by the participant
You will have
- A degree qualification in social work, welfare (social sciences), community development or related field is essential.
- Experience working in the family violence sector is desirable.
- Experience in specialist family violence and/ or child wellbeing work is highly desirable
- Demonstrated case management experience and skills
- Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision required
- Relevant child protection requirements are obtained for example Working with children check.
- Current QLD drivers licence
- Advance computer skills including experience in data and record management
This is a Max-term (ending in 30/06/2025), full-time position located in multiple locations; Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Level 5 Award.
