The Opportunity

Portfolio Operations has three dedicated streams of work: Core, Overlays and Product & Strategy. This Senior Analyst role resides in the Core stream where key functions include liquidity management, investment transaction management, account static data management, proxy voting, asset safety and transition management.

The Senior Analyst, Portfolio Operations is responsible for managing complex BAU deliverables supporting the Agency’s investment teams. It is critical all portfolio activities and instructions relating to the investment strategy are executed in compliance with internal procedure and control protocols. Championing a risk focus and discipline, maintaining process documentation and governance standards are key requirements of this position.

The Senior Analyst is expected to provide support for other members of the team, imparting knowledge and offering guidance as required. A key function of the Senior Analyst role is to take carriage of and resolve non-standard queries, often requiring well considered and creative solutioning. A proactive and curious approach to problem solving and a passion for identifying process improvement opportunities are all attributes that contribute to success in this role.

An ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders is fundamental for success. Strong verbal and written communication skills are paramount.

Additional responsibilities include supporting the other streams of work within Portfolio Operations and providing subject matter expertise to relevant Agency wide projects and initiatives.

Portfolio Operations

  • Provide support & oversight of cash/liquidity activities across multiple funds and asset types
  • Ensure all voting activities relating to listed investments are implemented in line with the Agency’s governance policy.
  • Manage complex private market transactions (Private Equity & Alternatives)
  • Establish and maintain investment accounts and assets at the Custodian and the relevant account referential datasets underpinning them.
  • Resolve complex and non-standard queries related to the Portfolio Operations function
  • Showcase a high degree of initiative and a proactive approach to drive an optimal BAU delivery.
  • Ensure all activities are executed in compliance with internal procedure and control protocols.
  • Key contributor to projects and initiatives to improve and develop the Portfolio Operations Operating Model.
  • Experience in querying technologies e.g., Power BI, Structured Query Language (SQL) and python is highly desirable.

Stakeholder Management

  • Key member and active participant within the Portfolio Operations team and across the wider Operations and Investment Management Team.
  • Proactive and insightful engagement with the Custodian - a key external stakeholder relationship.
  • Regular interaction with other relevant external partners including Investment Manager’s and Proxy Services Providers.

About You

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in finance, economics or business.
  • Post graduate or professional qualifications come highly regarded.

Experience

  • Significant (5 - 7yrs) experience in Investment Operations - private market operations (Private Equity and Alternatives) of particular interest.
  • Understand the transaction implementation process across multiple products & asset classes.
  • Strong cash/liquidity/treasury management experience essential.
  • Experience using Aladdin will be well received.
  • A background in institutional funds management, custody services, industry superannuation funds or funds administration comes highly regarded.
