But did you know we have 23 divisions, 135 sites nationally, employ nearly 3000 people and operate a fleet of over 2300

We do more than collect the bin from your street we also; convert waste into clean energy, divert food waste from landfill and convert to compost, manufacture customised waste management equipment, asbestos removal, refine and recycle oil, manage and maintain our fleet inhouse and have our own bespoke technology systems.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a JJ’s Trades Assistant / HR Truck Driver, you will support our depot and workshop operations in Cairns.

On a day-to-day basis, this role will require you to drive a variety of vehicles; supporting the workshop and mechanical team. You will be working with a safe, modern and reliable fleet, serviced and maintained in our on-site workshops.

We are an essential services industry, offering stability to employees and reliability to our customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITITES

  • Drive a variety of trucks 
  • Move trucks to and from service centres and between depots
  • Road test vehicles; have good mechanical apitude
  • Confirm repairs have been completed / checklist confirmation
  • Pre-start vehicle inspections 
  • Assist mechanics in the workshop with service tasks
  • General workshop support including cleaning, stores and paperwork

ABOUT YOU

  • Current HR Licence
  • Forklift ticket
  • Significant experience driving heavy vehicles - essential
  • Well-developed people and relationship skills
  • Can-do attitude and enjoy variety in your work
  • Confident mechanical skills – conduct test drives to identify issues with brakes, steering and suspension 
  • Commit to JJ’s Waste values and be willing to embrace workplace diversity
  • Be dedicated to achieving high standards of safety compliance
  • Be subject to a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing
  • Able to provide your last 5 years’ traffic history at interview stage
