Food & Domestic Assistant

Yarrawonga Health is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Food and Domestic Assistants to join our healthcare team. This position plays a vital role in providing support services, including meal preparation and domestic tasks, to contribute to the overall well-being and comfort of our patients. Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation:

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes according to established recipes and guidelines for Yarrawonga Health patients/residents
  • Ensure food items are properly stored, labeled, and rotated to maintain freshness.

Service and Presentation:

  • Plate and present dishes in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
  • Assist with the serving of meals to patients/residents.

Customer Interaction:

  • Provide friendly and efficient service to patients/residents, addressing their needs and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Answer questions regarding menu items and special dietary requirements.

Cleaning and Sanitation:

  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste.
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards to ensure a safe dining environment.

Stock Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies.
  • Assist in placing orders and restocking items as needed.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with all Yarrawonga Health staff and management to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and fulfill customer requests.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekly, afternoon and weekends including public holidays
  • Computer skills at a basic level;
  • Understanding of confidentiality;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skills;
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people;
  • Self-motivated with a high level of communication and organisational skills demonstrated ability to work alone.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in cleaning, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and moving equipment.
