About the role

We're seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to the development, maintenance, and support of Transurban's intricate suite of integration services crucial to our digital channels and beyond.

This position embraces Agile and DevOps practices, ensuring continuous delivery and integration of software. While encompassing full-stack development, the primary focus lies in back-end development on AWS.

As our Software Engineer, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.

Day-to-day, you will:

Collaborate across teams to create elegant, cost-effective, and accessible applications supporting Transurban's digital strategyDevelop and maintain optimal designs, adhering to Transurban StandardsCreate, modify, and enhance source code for Continuous Delivery (CD) and Continuous Integration (CI) following DevOps and Agile practicesUndertake software development and build processes, with an emphasis on improving existing practices within the team in pragmatic wayProvide operational support for existing systemsRun and manage software through deployment processesConduct application code reviews for quality and efficiencyCollaborate with Security to address potential risksTrack and report on the status of software developmentActively participate in the development, maintenance and improvement of Transurban Technology processes, procedures, documentation set, standards and methodologies

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

Demonstrated experience in building secure, robust, and maintainable systems as a Software DeveloperExpertise in developing Restful APIs and ensuring seamless integrationSolid understanding of building serverless applications on AWS, including Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and FargateStrong understanding of web application security, SSL, OICD, and best practicesProficiency in defining specifications using OpenAPIExperience integrating with third-party systems and APIsProficient in NodeJS and TypescriptExperience with building automated deployments using modern frameworks and platforms, like Github Actions and CDKExpertise in Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps principlesProven track record of delivering pragmatic solutions within project deadlinesReliable, insights-driven, self-motivated, and able to handle the challenges of a varied role in a dynamic organisationExcellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal) with the ability to deal effectively with both internal and external personnel at all levels
