Plastic Wax is an Australian multi-platform studio that derives its success from combining expertise, innovation and cutting-edge creativity in animation, motion capture, in-engine technology, virtual reality and game development.


We offer clients a full range of directorial and production services in both pre-rendered and real- time in-engine productions for animated series and features, cinematic game trailers and virtual reality productions.


We are looking for our next Head of Production to lead and support our team.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the production department providing oversight and support to their successful performance and project delivery
  • Creating new and maintaining existing Studio Crew Plans, and managing the coordination and resourcing across all projects
  • Collaborate with Producers & HODS on day-to-day crew needs as required to ensure a smooth running of the floor
  • Preempt and identify pressure points in the Studio schedule ahead of time so mitigation strategies can be implemented
  • Overseeing that the Project Reports are completed and up to date weekly
  • Responsible for documenting studio processes and maintaining currency and relevance of the Wiki page
  • Produce small projects and company initiatives if required
  • Responsible for ensuring projects are adequately and optimally resourced and internal crew fully utlilised
  • Provide strategic guidance on resourcing projects, and solutions to problems or bottlenecks
  • In collaboration with the Studio Technical Supervisor to monitor and oversee the pipeline department to ensure the smooth running of the studio


Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar role for 3-5 years
  • People management skills
  • Systems knowledge preferred: Shotgrid and RV
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong presentation, negotiation and oratory skills.
  • Highly organised and structured
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate issues
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, transparency and collaboration
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
