About the job  

The Fire Planner role will develop and update Fire Management Plans for major SA Water landholdings in order to ensure SA Water continues to meet its legislative and community responsibilities in relation to fire management and reducing fire risks to the community and SA Water. This involves liaising with external stakeholders like the Department for Environment and Water (DEW) and the Country Fire Service (CFS) to assess their planning frameworks, reviewing and improving the current SA Water Fire Management Plan template, and ensuring alignment with the Bushfire Management Area Plan (BMAP).

This max term opportunity is available until 30th June 2025.

In addition, your responsibilities will include: 

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

  • Review current SA Water Fire Management Plan template.
  • Liaise with key internal stakeholders including Environment and Energy on suggested improvements to template.
  • Undertake an assessment of all SA Water held fire management information.
  • Develop updated plans applying new Fire Management template.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • A good understanding of the Fire Management Planning on Public Land in SA.
  • Experience in developing Fire Management Plans.
  • Undertake an assessment of all SA Water held fire management information.
  • Sounds knowledge of relevant Acts and Regulations.
  • Excellence verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop sound interpersonal relationships with a multidisciplinary range of contacts.
  • Appropriate degree qualification or equivalent experience (desirable).
