We are looking for an experienced and passionate  Early Childhood Teacher  to be a part of our Cape Kids Childcare Centre based in the beautiful Coastal town of Weipa. The center has a capacity of 132 children across 6 rooms, and provides a quality educational experience to young children which encourages expression of their own ideas through play-based learning. In this role you provide children with an enriching learning environment while you build a career that you are passionate about in an organization with a variety of pathways.

This is a great opportunity for a Qualified ECT to work on a full-time roster, and manage the day-to-day operations of the kindergarten room, including providing leadership and support to educators and staff within your team. Reporting to the Director Cape Kids in a collaborative community, you will be:

Be responsible for management of the day-to-day operation of the assigned room, including providing leadership and support to educators and staff within your team in line with relevant regulations, policies and procedures Assist with the development, implementation, and reflection of the educational program to provide a high-quality program for all children and families Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, educators, staff and the Nominated Supervisor to deliver best outcomes for families and children

What you’ll bring

Degree in Early Childhood from a recognised University (as listed on the approved qualification list by ACECQA) Current Provide an Emergency First Aid response in an Education and Care Setting qualification Current ACECQA approved Anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management training Valid Working with Children Check Accredited Child Protection Training (desirable) Previous experience in an ECT role Positive attitude and enjoys being in a team environment Demonstrated knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework, Education and Care Services National Law (2010), and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011), Family Assistance Law.

Weipa Operations

Our Weipa Operations includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tons of bauxite.

Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforce—including 26 per cent who are women and 25 per cent Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management.

The development of our new mine, Amrun, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape.
