Job Description:

We are looking for a Reliability Engineer to join the team at Aquila in Middlemount, Qld. Aquila Mine is an underground hard steel making coal mine, which is planned to be in operation until 2030.

As the Reliability Engineer you will be the site principal advisor on defect elimination, asset health, asset tactics and reliability matters.

The Reliability Engineer monitors maintenance systems and standards in order for the Engineering and Maintenance Department to predictably deliver and sustain the required asset performance and cost objectives. The Reliability Engineer contributes to the Department’s strategic objectives as the principal advisor on equipment reliability. The key areas of focus for the Reliability Engineer are Defect Elimination, Asset Tactics, Business Improvement, Asset Condition and Health Monitoring, Financial Decision Making, and Operational Readiness.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading reliability improvement in the engineering and maintenance team. You will analyse the performance of all operating assets and deliver long term asset improvement. Be accountable for reviewing the maintenance strategies, recommending modifications, and supporting the maintenance team as required. Facilitate change within the team, helping and coaching maintenance personnel to improve strategies and eliminate inefficiencies from maintenance processes. Improve asset operational time through, through but not limited to Asset Management, Condition Monitoring, Defect Elimination, Root Cause Analysis, Managing Machine Health Programs. Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Prepare and maintain engineering and maintenance reporting dashboards, and analysis to monitor asset performance and asset health. Support and implement defect elimination / reliability engineering programs. Coordinate with Engineering teams and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in engagement on defects, failures and service strategies to prevent reoccurrence. Support and implement strategy life cycle review for critical assets. Qualifications: Mechanical or Electrical trade qualifications and or tertiary qualification in relevant engineering discipline eg Reliability / Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics / Condition Monitoring / Asset Management. Demonstrated experience in a similar role. Demonstrated experience contributing to a team of professionals to deliver against set targets. Track record in developing continuous improvement programs. In depth knowledge of Maintenance systems, failure analysis, and asset health system development. A high level of planning and problem solving ability. An understanding of key safety risks and ways to mitigate these. Strong stakeholder engagement. CMMS experience desirable (SAP highly regarded). Demonstrated knowledge and experience with UG equipment.
