We are on the look-out for our next Cook As a Hospital Cook at Yarrawonga Health, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the provision of well-balanced, healthy, and appetising meals for patients and staff. The successful candidate will collaborate with our dietary and nutrition team to create menus that align with the dietary needs and restrictions of patients while adhering to high-quality culinary standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards;
  • Provision of high-quality meals to residents, patience, visitors and staff of Yarrawonga Hospital.

Service:

  • Monitor food production to minimize waste and ensure cost-effectiveness;
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations;

  • Ensure all food handling is in accordance with food handling specification and national regulations.

Stock Management:

  • Collaborate with procurement to ensure the availability of fresh and high-quality ingredients.

Collaboration:

  • Coordinate with the nutrition team to accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions;
  • Work closely with all Yarrawonga Health staff and management to ensure smooth and efficient operations;
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and fulfill customer requests;
  • Active participation in menu reviews for Yarrawonga Health;
  • Active participation in Yarrawonga Health Food Safety Program.

Qualifications:

  • Current Food Handling Certificate Certificate.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years proven experience as a cook, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting;
  • Knowledge of nutritional requirements, dietary restrictions, and food allergies;
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills;
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a kitchen setting.

Desirable:

  • Additional certificates in Allergens and Dietary requirements.
