About the role:

The Injury Management Specialist supports our people and leaders in managing injuries and workers compensation claims. The role supports the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing to drive sustainable health and safety culture and performance across Estia Health. It ensures that employees are proactively supported in their injury recovery and claims are managed in accordance with legislative requirements.

Some of what you’ll be doing:

  • Provide early intervention support and management to injured employees, through completion of care calls, referrals to early intervention programs and preparation of recover at work plans.
  • Undertake role of RTW Co-Ordinator and manage a portfolio of injury cases including consultation and collaboration with injured workers, treating practitioners and leaders to support injury recovery and recover at work planning. Including travel to worksites and case conferences to attend in person.
  • Manage submission of workers compensation claims across all states, including preparation of necessary documentation and calculation of PIAWE/AWE
  • Manage workers compensation weekly payment process in scheme states in accordance with legislation and enterprise agreements and provide oversight and support to third party administrator in self-insurance. Including reconciliation and audit of weekly and claims payment.
  • Undertake the role of reconsideration officer and claims delegate for SA self-insurance
  • Support and provide expert guidance to senior leaders and managers on management of workplace injuries and workers compensation claims in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Collaborate with Health and Safety Business Partner to develop and implement evidence-based injury prevention programs.

The background that will make you a success in this role:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in WHS or Allied Health (or related) or equivalent prior experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an WHS and Injury Management/Rehabilitation role in a with a proven track record in delivering effective workplace injury performance results. (Exposure to a large and geographically dispersed organisation is preferable)
  • Demonstrated customer focused mindset and approach to problem solving.
  • Outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated experience in self-insurance environment.
  • Ability to create positive working relationships and influence across a broad range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated capability in interpreting and applying relevant WHS and workers compensation legislation in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated capability in coaching leaders and frontline workers to build knowledge and understanding of relevant health, safety and wellbeing requirements
  • Ability to travel as operationally required and for team development
