Electrical Engineer – Mulgrave, VIC

Kogan People Solutions are working with a leading contract manufacturer specialising in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and therapeutic goods, based in Mulgrave, Victoria.

With over 60 years of experience, the company offers comprehensive services, including product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance. Their state-of-the-art facility houses multiple GMP mixing suites and over 20 production lines, enabling the production of a diverse range of liquid products such as lotions, ointments, gels, and aerosols.

About the role:

Our client has experienced significant growth in operational capacity and are now seeking an experienced and qualified Electrical Engineer to join their busy team. This role will allow you to utilise your skills and experience to optimise the manufacturing processes within the business. The role is full time and ongoing.

Location: Mulgrave, VIC

Salary: Negotiable in the range of $70k to $80K plus superannuation per annum.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare equipment and machines for production according to specifications outlined by Engineering and Production Managers, ensuring all electrical configurations meet operational requirements.
  • Develop and implement a periodic maintenance plan for electrical installations, including control panels, circuit breakers, motors, and other key components to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Carry out detailed inspections of protection systems such as CTS, relay protections, wiring, and other electrical installations on production lines to verify safety compliance in line with Quality Control standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety Standards by installing and testing safety devices and related equipment before and after production runs.
  • Assist technical teams in setting up, modifying, and calibrating electrical systems for production line setups, changeovers, and other requirements to ensure seamless production operations.
  • Track key electrical performance indicators (KPIs) across the production line, including line speed and fill rates, and contribute to developing programs and processes to optimize production efficiency.
  • Develop control panel layouts for power transmission from mains to switchboards within the facility, ensuring electrical circuitry connects all protection switches, RCCBs, RCDs, and busbars effectively.
  • Collaborate on production and maintenance planning by working with managers and supervisors to create, refine, and implement production, maintenance, and facility plans to ensure efficient electrical operations.
  • Implement electrical installations following precise CAD designs, ensuring compatibility and functionality across the facility’s production setup.
  • Perform checks on grounding, earthing, and insulation resistance capabilities of switchboard panels across the production facility to confirm adherence to safety standards.
  • Compile reports detailing key performance indicators such as electricity usage, safety incident frequency, and maintenance program outcomes, providing insight for continuous improvement.

About you:

  • You will have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a highly relevant engineering field.
  • You will have at least 2 to 3 years’ post-graduate work experience (preferably more) as an Electrical Engineer.
  • You are a skilled Electrical Engineer with strong skills across all areas of the manufacturing process.
  • You are a strong people manager.
  • You have excellent negotiation and time management skills.
  • You have highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • You pride yourself on being a creative problem solver.

You must have unrestricted Australian working rights to be considered.
