We are currently seeking an experienced Head of IT to lead our IT department and ensure the efficient and secure operation of all IT systems.
 
Position Summary:
The Head of IT will be responsible for overseeing the entire IT function within Family Doctor. This includes hands on management of IT infrastructure, ensuring data security, supporting clinical and administrative staff, and developing IT strategies that align with the organization’s goals. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and excellent leadership skills.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 

  1. Transition of IT infrastructure and support from an external providers to in-house full support
  • Infrastructure to be migrated from a combination of private cloud hosted and on prem servers to Azure initially, and then private cloud at a later point
  • Development of in house network (eg SDWAN) and cybersecurity, as well as on prem support procedures and processes.
  • Utilisation of AI for efficient management and support ticket responses across the network.
IT Strategy and Planning:
  • Develop and implement an IT strategy that supports the organization’s objectives and enhances patient care.
  • Identify and recommend new technologies and improvements to existing systems.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget.
Infrastructure Management:
  • Oversee the maintenance and management of all IT systems, including hardware, software, networks, and databases.
  • Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of IT infrastructure.
  • Implement and manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Data Security and Compliance:
  • Ensure the security of all IT systems and data.
  • Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and industry best practices.
  • Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the IT team, providing guidance and support to ensure effective performance.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions to keep the team updated on best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Set performance goals and conduct performance reviews for IT team members.
Support and Maintenance:
  • Provide technical support to clinical and administrative staff.
  • Ensure timely resolution of IT issues and efficient helpdesk operations.
  • Oversee the installation and configuration of new systems and applications.
Project Management:
  • Manage IT projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with other departments to understand their IT needs and deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Oversee the implementation of electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other healthcare-specific software.
Vendor Management:
  • Manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
Innovation and Improvement:
  • Stay informed about the latest trends and developments in healthcare IT.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve IT services and support the organization’s mission.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT management, preferably within the healthcare industry.
  • Proven experience in managing IT infrastructure, data security, and compliance.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with healthcare IT systems, such as Best Practice Software EMR/EHR, preferred.
  • Proficiency in network management, data security, and IT project management.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in an office environment, sitting for extended periods, and using standard office equipment.
  • Ability to travel to different clinic locations as needed.

Work Environment:

  • Office environment with occasional travel required.
  • Fast-paced and dynamic work setting requiring flexibility and adaptability.
