The Head of Data is responsible for the effective management, planning and governance of Hume City Councils Data Platforms and Ecosystems. This is a critical strategic position at Hume City Council enabling the strategic investment and prioritisation of Data and good governance throughout council.
Reporting to the CIO, you will be accountable for the development, endorsement and adoption of the Data Strategy and be responsible for the planning and implementation works to bring Humes Data strategy to realisation.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop, define and execute the organisations Data Architecture, Strategy and roadmap. Define the data vision in alignment with business goals.
- Establish data governance frameworks, oversee data infrastructure and architecture, promote data literacy, explore data monetization opportunities, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
- Empower and guide Matrix teams, and stakeholder committees, ensure initiatives contribute to goals, actively engage stakeholders to understand needs, and embrace change and innovation.
- Establish and Lead the Data Governance Committee
- Establish metrics to measure the value derived form the use of Data Assets.
- Manage the portfolio of vendors to ensure vendor management principles fit the needs of Hume City Council.
- Manage the demand and resource planning across the portfolio to ensure capacity and capability to deliver organisational outcomes.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- senior level experience in Data Management enabling an organisation to successful realise the value in Data through the implementation of successful governance policy and standards.
- Demonstrated experience in Data Architecture and delivering a successful Data Strategy that aligns to business priorities and use cases related to Data.
- Demonstrated experience in the successful implementation of Data Governance Models within complex organisations.
- Ability to communicate and advocate for the use of data and need for governance maturity throughout the organisation.
- Demonstrated value derived from successful implementation of data policies, plans and the use of data in other similar organisations.
- Demonstrated experience working within a Matrix environment demonstrating effective communication and stakeholder engagement to deliver results.
