We are seeking a Maintenance Manager for an accommodation venue with 51 luxury apartments in Cairns City. The position is to commence late November and involves a combination of caretaker duties, maintenance and coordination of contractors. This position is open to sole traders or a company for people who can work under their own ABN.

About the role
Reporting to the Body Corporate you are expected to care for the building and ensure common property is properly maintained and kept in good repair. You need to be physically present on the premises to carry out daily tasks and attend to minor maintenance issues, but otherwise available on call to attend to emergencies or assist/supervise external contractors as required.

Some of your daily / weekly / monthly caretaker tasks may include:

  • Attending to minor maintenance issues
  • Maintain pool area, outdoor furniture and common areas. 
  • Work Health and Safety / Hazard control
  • Liaise with and supervise the work of external contractors engaged on an ongoing basis such as gardeners, cleaners, painters and pool service providers
  • Arrange for quotes and the appointment of new contractors
  • Record keeping
  • Attend Committee or Body Corporate meetings as required
  • On call /as required
  • Attend to emergencies 

About you

  • Previous experience in a similar position
  • Driver's license and own vehicle
  • Good understanding of WHS and risk management

To be successful in this role, you need to have a solid understanding of building maintenance and associated trades to enable you to liaise with and supervise the work of external contractors - A building trade background is highly desirable.
