Purpose of Role:

The Comminution Technician is responsible to carry out repairs and maintenance on Weir HPGR, screens and cone crusher equipment on customer sites and the workshop as both a fitter and a hands-on site service technician in addition to managing clients within the APAC region to establish and implement a sustainable growth of the allocated Comminution business unit.

This position will be working with the Senior HPGR/Comminution supervisor and Service management on various business objectives including but not limited to onsite safety, onsite maintenance, process improvement, lean principles and special projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
  • Work with the HPGR team on site, at the Perth and Port Hedland facility as well as managing clients within the APAC region to establish and implement a sustainable growth of the allocated HPGR business unit.
  • Provide service and customer support while onsite.
  • Manage all onsite maintenance, repair, fault finding and test tasks as per scopes of work provided.
  • Recommend improvements to the Service Manager for the Customer’s equipment that will reduce their TOC
  • Develop strong relationships with key customers to ensure expectations are being met and remedial action taken to address issues.
  • Exhibit a collaborative approach to ensure that customer needs are prioritized and satisfied to meet set service levels.
  • Provide technical advice to the Site Service Supervisor for service and components for contracts.
  • Ensure that preventative maintenance is conducted to eliminate or reduce plant downtime.
  • Liaise with the appropriate Area Managers to ensure that the installation and commissioning activities are being undertaken in a timely and cost effective manner for all works
  • Show flexibility under urgent or breakdown conditions in order to service customer requirements.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3–4 years relevant technical/trade experience (Minimum Cert III in Mechanical Engineering)
  • Experience working on heavy specialised equipment such as high-pressure grinding rolls, hydraulic and rotating equipment, highly preferred.
  • Hydraulic knowledge is desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Be available for a combination of workshop and field work
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office (Excel and Word), Email
