Our Cane Supply and Transport team is vital to our sugar operations. This team manages our train network and assets throughout the Herbert, Burdekin, Proserpine and Plane Creek regions. Our fleet of 80 locomotives haul 18,000 cane bins over 1,600km of track (enough to stretch from Cairns to Brisbane) to transport sugarcane from farms to our eight mills in North Queensland.

Job Vacancy

Expressions of interest are sought for the Traffic Officer role with the Invicta Mill Cane Supply team. The successful candidate should have a good understanding of Cane Supply transport operations. This position involves continuous shift work during the crushing season, weekend work and some overtime.

Essential Criteria for this position includes: 

Understanding of rail transport operations Able to work effectively within a team environment Work safely and look after the safety of others  Possess excellent communication skills Good organisational and planning skills Good mechanical knowledge Self-driven with the ability to work with little or no supervision Good district knowledge of the traffic operations Intermediate level of computer skills Hold a manual 'C' class driver's licence

The main duties of the Traffic Officer include but are not limited to the following: 

Coordinating the safe movement of trains on the railway network Maintaining correct procedure for operation of two way radio network Maintain the correct and efficient procedure for use of Electronic Mimic Boards Efficiently operate and amend ToTools (Transport Scheduling Software) Ensuring a continuous supply of cane to the mill Maintaining and adjusting loco schedules Personnel supervision and associated administration Coordination of on the job training for loco crews Record keeping and management of relevant information

As a Burdekin Region employee, the successful applicant may be required to commence or finish work on time at any of the 4 Mills within the region, depending on the needs of the business.
