This is a permanent part-time (0.8FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2024

Cervantes Primary School is seeking a gardener/handyperson who is enthusiastic, self-motivated and enjoys gardening and working in the outdoors.

The position is 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week) and requires a person who can work independently attending to gardening and handyman tasks in a school environment. Tasks include maintaining garden beds and lawn areas, upkeep of the oval and reticulation system and completing minor maintenance jobs as they arise in a safe and efficient manner.

The successful applicant would be joining a dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff and they would need to be willing to contribute and work as part of this team. They need to be prepared to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

Sound communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in maintaining grounds and gardens, including turf management. Experience in minor servicing of horticultural/gardening equipment and performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks. Knowledge of gardening methods and procedures, including the safe use and storage of gardening equipment, materials and chemicals.
