What is ACHA?

Adelaide Community Healthcare Alliance Incorporated (ACHA) is one of the largest private hospital groups in South Australia, comprising of Ashford Hospital, Flinders Private Hospital and The Memorial Hospital. Operating within its proud community-based and not-for-profit tradition, it provides a wide range of high quality healthcare services through its collection of acute medical, rehabilitation, surgical and obstetric hospitals. ACHA employs some 2,200 staff and has over 1,400 accredited visiting medical specialists and volunteers.

About our Graduate Program 

Give your career the best possible head start with our comprehensive and individually tailored Graduate Program across three rewarding streams. We work with you to identify your aspirations, accelerate your learning and meet your professional development goals now and into the future.

ACHA hospitals offers Graduate Nurse and Graduate Midwife Programs which are designed to assist Graduate Nurses / Graduate Midwives in their Transition to Professional Practice. This program aims to:

Assist and provide support to Graduates in their initial transition from student to practicing novice Nurse / Midwife. Assist the Graduate in consolidating their knowledge, clinical practice, leadership, communication and teamwork skills in a supportive and flexible learning environment that is responsive to their needs.

We have full time or part time (minimum FTE) permanent roles available, across three hospitals and three core streams - General, Perioperative and Maternity. We offer a 12-month program to support your transition to practice and develop your clinical skills, confidence and knowledge. 

Program Structure

General Stream

The general stream graduate program includes rotations across the following areas, dependent on hospital site:

Medical Surgical Oncology Cardiac Emergency Angiography Critical Care Paediatrics

All positions are permanent contracts and may be offered as part time (minimum FTE or full time. 

Perioperative Stream

The Perioperative stream graduate program includes rotations across the following areas:

Theatre (Scrub/Scout) Anaesthetics Recovery Day Ward

All positions are permanent contracts and may be offered as part time (minimum FTE or full time. 

Midwifery Stream

The Midwifery stream graduate program includes rotations across the following areas at Ashford Hospital:

Antenatal / postnatal Labour ward Special care nursery

All positions are permanent contracts and may be offered as part time (minimum FTE or full time.

What does the Recruitment and Onboarding process look like?

We have a 3 simple stage process where you will get a chance to get to know us as much as we will get to know you.

Step 1 - Online application

Open 28 August 2023 and close 28 August 2024 at 11:59pm AEST

Step 2 - Interviews October 2023

Firstly, record a video of yourself answering some simple interview questions, at a time that suits you Secondly, conduct a Zoom or face to face behaviour interview and get an opportunity to meet our team based at the hospital you're most interested in joining. Come prepared with your questions as we want you to get to know us and be confident you are making the right choice in joining our team Upload referee details

Step 3 - Pre-Start Checks and Onboarding  November 2023

Complete pre-employment checks and process, including, but not limited to:

Current AHPRA Registration South Australian DHS Working with Children Clearance Evidence of right to work in Australia, if required Completion of pre-employment medical assessment

Successful candidates will be offered a role shortly after this point.

Onboarding experience & first day at the hospital:
