The Role

Reporting to the Procurement Systems Manager this role will be accountable for providing analytics and insights to Melbourne Water’s senior leaders to assist decision making, support continuous improvement and drive commercial outcomes.

This will be achieved through:

  • Providing analysis for category management, sourcing, purchasing, contract management, commercial ventures and supplier relationship management.
  • Developing and maintaining procurement dashboards to fulfil ongoing reporting requirements.
  • Leading the e-Procurement analytics program to drive best practice procurement data analytics.
  • Developing, implementing and improving analytical tools and methodologies including data modelling and statistical analysis techniques to improve procurement outcomes and support decision making.
  • Preparing detailed assessment studies and reports.
  • Leading the capture and reporting of procurement savings to track cost reduction/value add benefits.

To be successful in this role, the following skills and experience are required:

  • Proven ability to translate data and analysis into tangible business insights.
  • Excellent judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly break down problems and find innovative solutions.
  • Experience of procurement and contract management systems and processes is desirable.
  • Strong skills with IT applications related to procurement, including relational databases and data warehousing.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, business writing and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify potential risks and possess initiative to action process improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiating, influencing and project management skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills with expertise in Power BI and Power Platform tools such as Dataverse and Microsoft PowerApps
  • Previous procurement system administration experience in a medium to large organisation.
  • Proven and demonstrable experience working with and deriving insights from large and complex data sets via ETLs, MSSQL,M Formula and DAX
