Kenmore District Kindergarten has been caring and educating 3- to 5-year-old children for 65 years. A unique opportunity has become available for a Director/Teacher/Nominated Supervisor to join our amazing team in a permanent part-time position commencing January 2025. This role is a senior and respected position, with the overarching responsibility of the leadership and management of the kindergarten.

At Kenmore District Kindergarten, we, the staff and managing committee, believe in excellence in education for each child through play. While we maintain that special community Kindy feel, our much sought-after programs are at the forefront of early childhood learning and education practice and boast long and short-day options for our families. Our community kindergarten operates one group of 22 on a Monday/Tuesday (8am-3.30pm) and two groups on a Wednesday/Thursday/Friday (9am to 2pm) Kindergarten program, with opt-in after-care running until 5:00pm.

About the Role

The Director/Teacher/Nominated Supervisor role is permanent part-time position. You will work a 30.5 hour week, teaching Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (15 hours contact and 5.5 hours prep) with the remaining hours spread across your Director (7.5 hours) and Educational Lead (2 hours) duties.

In this role you will be working alongside a long-standing and experienced team of teachers and educators who are passionate about early childhood education and providing a warm, secure, inclusive and high-quality learning environment for all children as they start their learning journey. Your key duties include promoting and ensuring:

  • The delivery of high-quality early childhood education and kindergarten programs based on the Early Years
    Learning Framework (EYLFv2) and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG)
  • Strong trusting relationships between children, families and staff
  • A strong and cohesive professional team
  • Meaningful parent participation in all aspects of service provision
  • Cost effective service provision and the best investment of available resources.
  • Help market the center to attract future enrolments

You will work closely with the Administration Manager Assistant who will support you in your role as well as the volunteer committee elected annually from the parent body. There will be a handover with our (much loved) outgoing Director/Teacher who has kindly offered her assistance if and where needed as you establish yourself in your role

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about early years education, community kindergarten and creating an inclusive experience for all children and their families. The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to demonstrate their experience as a Director and Teacher, and be well-versed in their understanding
    and application of the NQF, NQS, EYLF V2.0 and the QKLG in their planning for and documentation and
    assessment of children’s learning and development.
  • Demonstrate extensive experience in leading a team of teachers and educators and the ability and desire to
    work with alongside them to support the needs of the children and families in the Kindergarten’s care
  • Be an incredible communicator with a natural ability and inclination to develop and foster genuine
    connections with children, parents and guardians, community networks, schools and allied health
    professionals
  • Be passionate about play-based learning and demonstrate their ability to provide high-quality, authentic and
    stimulating learning programs and environments that enhance children’s learning and development
  • Be committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practices
    Be self-driven with demonstrated initiative, innovation and flexibility
  • Be an approachable and respectful leader who seeks feedback and invites contribution
  • Have an understanding of and the ability to follow budgets

Key qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or equivalent (must be recognized by ACECQA)
  • Queensland College of Teacher Registration or be eligible for Teacher Registration in Queensland
  • At least three years’ experience as a Director preferably at a Community Kindergarten
  • Recognised First Aid, CPR and Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification
  • Blue Card or Exemption Card
  • Child Protection Training or willingness to undertake training prior to commencement
