Through continued growth, SPC is now looking for a Head of Innovation Delivery. 

The Role 

The Head of Innovation Delivery at SPC will play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth through product innovation and market expansion. This position is integral to SPC’s ambition of consistent product launches and enhancing brand presence across key channels.

The Head of Innovation Delivery will lead and optimise the innovation pipeline, focusing on accessible market opportunities that reinforce SPC’s positioning in the FMCG sector. The Head of Innovation Delivery will work closely with cross-functional teams, including consumer insights, product development, and commercialisation, to ensure that each launch meets consumer demands and strengthens SPC's portfolio. This will be executed through a significant uplift in process and innovation governance strategy. 

 
The role is responsible for the development and delivery of SPC Global’s Innovation Governance Program by establishing, implementing, and maintaining a standardised framework, including relevant processes, policies, and tools to help double the innovation rate of the SPC Global business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Collaboration: Foster a culture of innovation by leading cross-functional teams, leveraging SPC’s established trust and collaborative environment, and instilling accountability. The role with act as a business partner, connecting the dots between commercial, finance, operations, and supply chain.
  • Process & Governance: Develop and deliver the Innovation Governance Process, including all the steps involved from ideation to innovation delivery and post launch review.
  • Innovation Pipeline Management: Own the entire innovation process, from ideation to market, ensuring that the pipeline remains strong, relevant, and financially viable. Refine, mange and lead the Stage & Gate process including all training and documentation. Develop a process for systematic ideation from consumer insights to ensure all innovation is consumer led.
  • NPD & Stage-Gate Process: Drive the new product development (NPD) process, applying the stage-gate model to streamline and control project timelines, costs, and product quality.
  • People & Safety: Commit to safe work procedures and lead safe work behaviours, including matters relating to fitness for work and wellbeing. Demonstrate and support SPCs values and behaviours within the work environment. Take opportunities to build shared understanding and ownership of the organisation’s vision, values, strategies, plans and desired culture.
  • Insights-led Decision-Making: Use data and consumer insights to identify and target growth opportunities within existing and new categories, with a focus on aligning SPC’s products with evolving consumer needs and market trends.
  • Consumer-First Strategy: Focus on understanding and responding to market trends and consumer needs, with a specific emphasis on functional foods, notably SPC Provital.
  • Channel Expansion: Engage with existing grocery partners (Metcash, Coles, and Aldi) and expand relationships with distribution channels like BidFood, particularly in healthcare and aged care facilities.
  • Sustainable Growth Initiatives: Ensure that new products align with SPC’s sustainability goals, maintaining ethical sourcing and production practices as part of SPC’s commitment to responsible growth.

Skills and Experience 

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in FMCG product, category and goverance innovation and a proven track record of successful innovation projects - inclusive of processes, policies, tools. 

Essential attributes include:

  • Strategic Vision and Analytical Skills: Ability to balance consumer insights with market trends and SPC’s strategic goals.
  • Innovation Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of trust, and driving high-impact projects through effective innovation governance.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of the NPD and stage-gate processes, with a keen eye for efficient process improvement and commercialisation strategies.
  • Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the grocery and food service channels, especially within the Australian FMCG landscape.
  • Accountability and Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment and to adapt to evolving market demands.
