The Opportunity

When joining the APA Graduate Program, we offer you a fulltime permanent position with the organisation. Starting with the 2-year program, the 4 x 6-month rotations will be for someone who is passionate about the Energy Infrastructure industry, and be a Graduate of Electrical Engineering

You’ll complete an additional 6-month rotation in a complementary team aligned to your individual career pathway as part of your initial two-year program to develop broad internal relationships and wide business perspective.

The successful graduate can expect to develop a diverse set of skills through education, training, and hands-on experience in the field. The key skills that a procurement graduate is likely to develop, are:

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse data, market trends, and supplier information to make informed procurement decisions. Communication Skills: Effective communication with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, ensuring clarity and understanding in all interactions.
  • Contract Management: Knowledge and skills in drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and solve complex problems related to procurement processes, supplier issues, and supply chain disruptions.
  • Project Management: Skills in managing procurement-related projects, coordinating teams, and ensuring project success within timelines and budget constraints.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of cost analysis, budgeting, and financial decision-making to contribute to effective procurement strategies.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks in the supply chain, ensuring continuity and minimising disruptions.
  • Ethical Decision-Making: An understanding of ethical considerations in procurement, promoting responsible and sustainable sourcing practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaboration with other departments such as operations, finance, and legal to align procurement activities with broader organizational goals.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with procurement software and tools to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and provide data analytics for decision-making.
  • Continuous Improvement: An inclination towards continuous improvement, seeking ways to optimise procurement processes and drive efficiency.
  • Compliance Management: Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies governing procurement activities to ensure compliance.

Eligibility

  • Qualified in Electrical Engineering by the end of 2024 or within the last 2 years.
  • Located within reasonable travel time to our Brisbane office.
  • Willingness to continue your learning and be a part of a greater national Graduate team.
  • Able to demonstrate the APA behaviours: Accountable, Collaborative, Courageous, Impactful & Nimble.
  • Available to start your full time career 3rd March 2025.
