POSITION

We have a full-time position of Glazier in Stratford, Cairns Qld 4870.

SKILLS

The business requires the following qualifications and experience for the Glazier position.

• At least a relevant AQF Cert III with at least 2 years of on-the-job training or a relevant AQF Certificate IV or the equivalent.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.

NOTE the business may consider at least 3 years of relevant work experience in substitution to the formal qualification listed above

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Glazier is responsible for the precise cutting, efficient operation of glass processing machinery, and the supply management of glass products. This role emphasizes the technical aspects of glass preparation and handling, ensuring the highest quality standards and operational efficiency in the glass processing facility.

POSITION DUTIES

• Measure and cut glass to exact specifications using hand tools and automated glass-cutting machinery.
• Ensure accuracy and precision in all cuts to minimize waste and optimize material use.
• Handle various types of glass, including tempered, laminated, and specialty glass, tailoring cuts to meet specific project requirements.
• Operate and maintain glass-cutting machines, edge grinders, polishing equipment, and other relevant machinery.
• Perform routine checks and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues with machinery to maintain production flow.
• Inspect cut glass for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards. Where any defects are apparent mark accordingly.
• Record and report any discrepancies or quality issues and where necessary report these.
• Implement corrective measures to address quality concerns and improve processes.
• Manage inventory levels of glass sheets, tools, and other materials used in the cutting and processing operations.
• Shaping glass according to patterns and templates, refining rough edges with belt sanders and smoothing wheels, and applying techniques such as coating, cutting, etching, trimming, and treating to create special effects.
• Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure timely replenishment of materials.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of glass materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to housekeeping standards.
• Setting glass and mirrors into various installations including windows, skylights, display cases, and interior surfaces, ensuring they fit and align correctly, and securing them with suitable fasteners and adhesives to enhance both appearance and stability.

Additional Required Skills:

• Strong understanding of glass properties, cutting techniques, and machinery operation.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and automated glass-cutting equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and precision in cutting and processing operations.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

SALARY

The salary offered will be $70,000 to $80,000 per annum
