Mechanical Fitter

We are looking to connect with a highly motivated and experienced Trade Qualified Mechanical Fitter to join our Delivery Team in providing essential water and sanitation services to more than 1.7 million people and 52,000 business customers in the northern and eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Our client manages more than 3.7 billion dollars of water and sewage infrastructure, including reticulated recycled water, across an area of approximately 4,000 square kilometres.

About the role
Ventia are seeking a passionate, and organised Trade Qualified Mechanical Fitter to join our Delivery Team to work predominately with our team in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne operating from our Mitcham depot, with your main goal being to take ownership of and to ensure the timely mechanical maintenance support for pumping stations, treatment plant and storage facilities.  Reporting to the Delivery Team leader your ability to provide support safely and to best practice will set you above everyone else.

Working in a fast-paced environment which is dynamic in nature, you will have the confidence to work within a multi-disciplined team.  Opportunities to gain further skills and knowledge will be made available to someone who wants to do and learn more.

You’ll be responsible for several key activities including:
 

• Be a safety champion within your team
• Provide routine maintenance and project work on all assets
• Ensure daily maintenance, diagnosis, repair and testing of all mechanical equipment faults is conducted in a safe and timely manner
• Coordinating subcontractor and, ensuring compliance with Ventia and work and safety standards
• Monitoring subcontractors’ performance to ensure project plans and milestones are met
• Completing all work orders and purchase orders in a timely manner
• Actively communicate and liaise with all team members

 About you

• Experience, ideally in the utilities, oil and gas, mining, or large scale FMCG industry
• Trade Qualified Mechanical Fitter
• Demonstrated experience in Water and or Waste-Water infrastructure projects
• White card
• Have a current Australian driver’s license
• Heavy Ridged Licence is an advantage
• Ability to work night shift on shutdowns or when required
• Ability to participate in the on-call roster
