The role:

Amazing opportunity for an Abrasive Blaster / Painter to join our Above Water Systems (AWS) team based in Garden Island. Your responsibility will include coatings and painting applications, sand-blasting, and other tasks relative to industrial coatings. You will also Assist Dockmaster to undertake docking and undocking of large to small vessels.
 

Responsibilities will include:

Assist dockmaster in set-up Docking cradle for vessels both large and small.

Apply coatings through conventional, airless, and plural spray systems.

Mix paints to desired colours and consistencies.

Working in confined spaces, elevated work platform equipment, internal/external vessels on a daily basis.

Provide and maintain support of the Ship Repair Services

Willingness to undertake multi skilled activities in all aspects of ship repair.

Follow Quality control standards and comply with instructions given for own safety and health and that of others, in adhering to safe work procedures.

Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others, and to abide by duty of care provided for in the WHS legislation
 

 How about you?

Extensive experience within ship building industry preferred or ship repair industry

Ability to verbally communicate technical instructions and provide feedback to various stakeholders including non-technical persons

Familiar with marine practices, ship layout and technical interpretation

The ability to work to AS 1627 standards and ISO standards

Experience in airless spray machines and pressure pot

Experience in hydro blasting

Sound knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety Regulations as they apply to marine industry

Certificate 3 Surface Preparation & Coating Application preferred
