As we continue through an exciting period of growth, and due to the Company’s involvement in a number of new projects and studies, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Principal Procurement Officer to join our Perth based team.
Reporting to the Group Manager – Project Services , the Principal Procurement Officer will act as the primary focal point for supporting the Perth Lycopodium Minerals business in relation to the Procurement function, and is responsible for assisting and coordinating the management of procurement and expediting activities of projects and/or studies across the business.
The tasks you'll perform
- Provide leadership to the procurement function within the Lycopodium Minerals Perth (and subsidiaries) business.
- Act as the agent for continuous improvement in all procurement procedures and policies.
- Assist the Group Manager – Project Services in ensuring Lycopodium procurement policies and procedures are being adhered to across the projects and studies being executed.
- Act as a focal point and SME for Clients on matters related to procurement, expediting and materials management.
- Assist in providing training to the procurement and broader project teams as required.
- Carry out commercial analysis and evaluation of quotations to enable the correct supplier choice to be made.
- Plan, coordinate, monitor and report progress of all activities required for timely issue of enquiries, tender evaluation and award of purchase orders.
- Work in conjunction with a range of internal and external stakeholders to secure optimum prices and deliveries for equipment to meet project technical, schedule and commercial requirements.
- Develop and maintain an effective vendor data (including manuals) and goods tracking system both on a company-wide and on a project-specific basis.
- Implement and monitor the procurement schedule in accordance with the overall delivery schedule.
- Liaise with and provide professional support to the Project team in the preparation of project deliverables.
- Depending on the size of project, you may be required to oversee the project Procurement team to perform their designated functions with suitable speed, accuracy, efficiency and with adherence to company policy.
The expertise you'll bring
- A minimum of 15 years experience in the procurement, expediting, and/or logistics disciplines, ideally within the engineering or construction industries.
- Qualifications in a Procurement discipline is preferred, but not essential.
- Demonstrated experience with computerised purchasing and logistics systems, and their operation and applications.
- First class knowledge of international and local tendering and practices will be considered favourably.
- High-level negotiating skills and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve consistently high standards within both budgetary and schedule constraints.
- Provide mentoring and professional development for personnel within your business unit.
- Ability to create a positive stakeholder management and customer support environment.
