ABOUT THE ROLE:

With the recent local and world markets shift toward zero emission vehicles and benefitting from Volgren’s strong focus on the design and development of innovative new bus solutions, we are looking to increase our workforce at this exciting time with talented individuals contributing to the overall success of our company.

We are looking to fill multiple Skilled Trade Assistant roles within our Dandenong VIC facility. In this hands-on position, reporting to the Section Leader, you will have a strong drive and motivation to succeed and be able to work in a safety conscious environment.

Positions enjoy working a 9-day fortnight. This will be a permanent full-time opportunity and paid as per our Enterprise Agreement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to read and understand drawings
  • Support tradespeople, contractors and operators with general labouring assistance, by operating hand and power tools and by cleaning and preparing worksite.
  • Ensuring the worksite and associated equipment is clean, safe, tidy and ready for use.
  • Undertaking and completing assigned tasks with minimal supervision and in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Colour matching and mixing paints to match paint shades, and selecting pre-mixed paint
  • Touching up paintwork and applying polish to vehicles
  • Removing masking papers, and waxing and polishing finished paintwork
  • Treating vehicles with rust-proofing chemicals

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in English
  • Applicants with previous experience in Detailer/Construction and or Fabrication, would be highly advantageous.
  • Cleaning experience will be highly regarded (transport, domestic, and commercial) 
  • Experience in car, bus or truck detailing also highly regarded.
  • Time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and presentation 
  • Ability to work as part of a team

This position also requires the applicant to undertake a pre-employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol analysis, musculoskeletal evaluation and hearing test
