THE ROLE 

We are seeking to appoint a seasoned Estimating Lead to join our progressive joint venture in a full time permanent role, based in our Head office in Chatswood. As Lead Estimator for Confluence water, you will be responsible for leading an estimating function that provides accurate and timely estimating services for the Northern Delivery Team’s portfolio. The Lead Estimator will ensure estimates are prepared and delivered accurately and competitively with strategies, methodologies, and risk profiles understood, reviewed, and approved for submission to the client (Sydney Water). You will also bring the ability to foster strong working partnerships within the business and be a strong contributor in driving a culture of delivering strong customer and shareholder value, while modelling the Northen Delivery teams values and signature behaviours. 

You will have strong communication and leadership skills, and are able to: 

  • Manage a team of Estimators with varying experience levels 
  • Use a range of estimating techniques   
  • Analyse performance through benchmarking and assessment of estimating outcomes 
  • Work together with various stakeholders to assure that an accurate estimate is in place 
  • Review estimates / proposal with Client prior to submission and adjust as necessary. 
  • Ability to work on multiple jobs in different stages while passing submission milestones 
  • Conduct internal reviews and present estimates to senior leaders 
  • Prepare estimating reports for Steer Co approvals and TCC approvals 
  • Work together with Client to develop accurate and approvable estimate / proposal. 

ABOUT YOU  

  • Relevant Degree in Engineering 
  • Commercial skills and understanding of financial administration and project costing  
  • Knowledge and experience of estimating, project management 
  • Familiarity with engineering disciplines and experience with a variety of forms of contract including partnering and alliancing 
  • Familiarity with current market estimating systems as well as other day to day systems including Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, estimating systems with competency in Candy/Expert or comparable estimating Software, (CANDY being the preference), Excel. 
  • Ability to build and maintain strong business relationships.
