OCTIEF operates a NATA accredited Laboratory offering asbestos analysis services and has a current vacancy for a part time Laboratory Technician to be trained to undertake asbestos sample preparation and analysis. 

We are seeking a candidate who will be able to operate well in a high-volume work area with attention to detail. A proven ability to work well in a laboratory team environment and the willingness to use initiative towards the completion of given tasks will be highly regarded. 

The role is very hands on during all phases of the process and can be physically demanding at time when preparing soils for analysis.
The Laboratory Technicians primary duties will include but are not limited to:

Accurately registering samples into LIMS system using information provided on client chain of custody documentation; Assigning test types in LIMS system using information provided on client chain of custody documentation; Preparation of samples for analysis; Operation of microscopes; Entering analysis results into LIMS system; Generation of Certificate of Analysis General administration tasks including scanning, photocopying, sorting and filing; General laboratory cleaning, stocktaking and maintenance tasks; Other tasks as requested by your reporting supervisor. Previous experience in a similar role is desired, however this position is open to applicants with laboratory experience as full training will be provided. 
Desirable skills & experience include: 
Experience within an operating asbestos laboratory;  Experience with laboratory software systems;  High attention to detail – must be extremely well organised, and capable of handling multiple tasks;  Ability to work to strict deadlines;  Adaptable and willing to undertake a wide variety of challenging tasks;  Excellent verbal and written communication skills;  The ability to work autonomously and effectively within a team environment;  Experience in MS Office suite;  Current valid open drivers licence;  Working with Children, Criminal and Employment health checks may also be necessary.
