Security Trainer

Security Trainer (12 month opportunity)
Location: Barton, Canberra
Position: Full-time (APS 5 Equivalent)
Eligibility: Must be an Australian Citizen
The Opportunity: Join one of the largest and most dynamic divisions within our federal government department. We are seeking an energetic and talented officer to deliver essential security training to staff and partner agency personnel in Canberra and across State/Territories. This role offers a unique chance to enhance your professional training skills while contributing to the safety and security of our workforce.
About the Role: As a member of the Security Policy, Training and Culture section, you will help maintain and develop the Security Framework, ensuring effective support for our core activities while safeguarding our people, information, and assets.

• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with experience in drafting correspondence and compliance reports.

• Understanding of adult learning theories and principles.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
• Knowledge of the Protective Security Policy Framework
• Experience in adult training development and delivery

Key Duties:

• Deliver training and learning packages in various settings.
• Manage training administration, including resource management and scheduling.
• Support the analysis, design, and development of training programs.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders.
• Assist in reporting on issues impacting the section or branch.
• Develop an understanding of legislation, policy, and regulations related to security.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Security Clearance: Candidates must hold a current Australian Government Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance (NV1 minimum; NV2 preferred) prior to commencement.
