Senior Associate, Professional Lines

Kennedys is looking for a Senior Associate to join our growing Insurance practice in Brisbane. The successful candidate will work on a mix of complex general insurance matters; involving coverage, financial lines, 1st party property & professional indemnity (construction) issues.
The role includes handling high value, complex coverage disputes as well as having carriage of defence instructions for financial institutions, a range of construction professionals, corporate service providers, and directors and officers (D&O). The role also includes advising on large subrogated recoveries and commodities claims.
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their career working for a reputable global law firm. The successful candidate will have at least 6-9 years' of defendant insurance experience as a minimum and be able to cope with multiple deadlines at the same time.

Kennedys is a global firm and has had a presence in Australia since 2006. In 2017, Kennedys Melbourne opened to reinforce the firm's commitment to the Australian market and in 2021, our Perth office followed.
In 2022, Kennedys officially opened an office in Brisbane which is growing from strength to strength. Working closely with our specialist Partner, Stephanie Cook, and an Associate in the team, the successful candidate will have an opportunity to work on multi-party litigated matters, as well as running files autonomously in the coverage space.
You will also have opportunity to work closely with our Sydney office/Partners with extensive experience across multiple lines of insurance work, with a particular depth of expertise in professional indemnity, financial institutions, directors' and officers' (D&O), property and construction, to name a few.

6+ years' experience, with relevant defendant experience from a defendant insurance team, preferably in Queensland Ability to run with matters autonomously with limited supervision Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Desire to manage & mentor more junior lawyers in the team with file management/progression Methodical and organised approach to file management Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with excellent organisation skills and attention to detail High level of professionalism and integrity; displaying the highest standard of professional ethics.Please let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments or additional support in order to submit your application to Kennedys.
