Job Description

GCI is seeking an experienced and motivated Research Fellow to work on an ARC funded project titled “Trajectories of Wrongful Conviction and Pathways to Exoneration” led by Dr Rachel Dioso-Villa.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Conduct research that contributes to the project aims and objectives to “Trajectories of Wrongful Conviction and Pathways to Exoneration”.
  • Develop a good publication record by publishing project related work in high impact, international, esteemed peer-reviewed journals.
  • Oversee some data collection and undertake complex statistical analysis and qualitative contextual analysis of collected data.
  • Manage the preparation and formulation of publications, presentations and research reports arising from the research.

What we can offer
This is a fixed term (12 months), 80% part-time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Mt Gravatt campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full-time equivalent base salary will be Research Fellow, Grade 1 in the range $84, - $99, per annum, plus 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $99, - $, per annum.

Qualifications

About you
The successful candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent qualifications from a recognised university in criminology, law, social psychology, sociology, or a related field.

You will also demonstrate:

  • An ability to work under pressure and to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines;
  • High levels of initiative and flexibility;
  • Strong academic writing and analytical skills to analyse existing datasets;
  • Well-developed organisational, interpersonal and written communication skills;
  • An ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team; and
  • A legal background would be highly desirable.
