As Aurizon continues to thrive in 2024, we are seeking to fill multiple positions in our Port Services Team based in Gladstone. We welcome applications from candidates who are willing to learn new skills and achieve competencies of nationally recognised qualifications. Some entry level opportunities allow local residents including school leavers to forge a career in the Port Industry with Australia’s Largest Bulk Freight Operator.

About the role:

These positions will see you learning and practising the following parts of Port Operations within Aurizon’s Bulk business while buddied with an Aurizon employee who will be supporting you throughout your training:

• Learn all aspects of safety within Port Services operations
• Conduct relevant pre-start vehicle checks for operating machinery
• Operate Reachstackers, Cranes and Loaders
• Load and unload containerised freight from trucks and rail line
• Communicate effectively via two-way radios with relevant transport coordinators and supervisors
• On completion of training period and achieving competencies of the training, the employee will transition into a qualified Equipment Operator.

About you: 

• +18 years of age
• Sound verbal and written skills
• Strong commitment to safety
• Stevedore knowledge and experience (preferred)
• Reachstacker ticket (highly desired)
• Loader ticket (highly desired)
• Open crane ticket (highly desired)
• Previous Forklift experience and Forklift ticket (highly regarded)
• C Class driver’s licence (unrestricted or provisional)
• Able to obtain Maritime Safety Identification Card (MSIC) – Mandatory
