About the Division / Team

Our Interstate network is responsible for the management of approximately 6,000km of track and servicing a broad range of supply chains. The team comprises more than 500 staff and 24 provisioning centres and depots, which continue to deliver major corridor maintenance works and projects across the country to increase the efficiency and capacity of Australia’s rail network.

About the Opportunity

Supervise a Signal discipline delivery work group to deliver work allocated by the Area Manager to ensure the operational integrity and efficiency of signalling assets in a designated section of rail corridor. 

• Ensure the Safe and Reliable operation of all designated signalling equipment by performing maintenance and inspection procedures in accordance with the Technical Maintenance Plans, Signalling Discipline standards and practises. 
• Test Signalling equipment in accordance with signalling standards and ensure that appropriate certificates are submitted. 
• Ensure safety checks are completed and appropriate documentation is maintained. 
• Ensure optimal employee and external contractor performance. 
• Certify the integrity of completed projects. 
• Ensure fair and equitable workplace practices and behaviours are complied with, creating a discrimination free workplace in accordance with legislative requirements.
• Ensure that policies and procedures that relate to People, Culture and Development are effectively practiced and administered within the respective work site. 
• Ensure compliance with ARTC’s Safety Management System (SMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements, responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities. 
• Promote a safety culture within the team to conform with current Work Health and Safety (WH&S) and relevant Rail Safety legislation. 
• Ensure that injuries are properly reported, and that any injured employees are provided both a safe and timely return to work. 

About You

To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:

• Detailed knowledge of a single rail infrastructure discipline stream (track, structures or signalling).  
• Ability to supervise teams for effective performance. 
• Knowledge of or an awareness of Work, Health and Safety principles and relevant rail safety legislation. 
• Hand Signalling and Worksite Protection Class 3 
• Drivers Licence Class C 
• ARTC Statement of Competency (Signals) or demonstrated ability to attain as per Signals Competency Assessment (EST-20-03). 
• Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. 
• Well-developed problem resolution skills.
