Innovation Lead – Virtual Care

The opportunity

The Innovation Lead in the Future Care Team is a key role that drives the future of care in the home. They are responsible for leading virtual care initiatives and providing specialist expertise and experience in the development of innovations that drive the future of care in the home. The focus of the role is on scoping, concept development, investment case development, piloting, design, implementation, evaluation, and scaling of service innovations that drive improved patient experience, improved safety and quality, return on investment and commercialisation of new products.

With the increasing need for hybrid service delivery models (face to face and remote), the Innovation Lead will also be responsible for ensuring that Silverchain’s current and future services are contemporary and deliver meaningful outcomes and impacts that are grounded in end-user needs. They will work closely with clinicians to develop, implement, and drive adoption of virtual care services that meet the needs of patients and their families.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Develop, design, implement and report on virtual care initiatives.
  • Establish and manage healthcare innovation initiatives end to end.
  • Understand in-home health and aged care service workflows, tasks, and roles to identify how virtual care can improve safety, quality, and financial sustainability.
  • Support, coach and guide clinicians and care workers to adopt digitally enabled ways of working into new and existing service delivery models.
  • Conduct cost and benefit analysis to develop the case for investment in virtual care.
  • Measure and report on healthcare innovation return on investment.
  • Undertake emerging technology scans, trend analysis, and assessments.
  • Identify, summarise, and document key evidence that supports the case for change for virtual care and the use of emerging technologies.
  • Provide expert recommendations, insights, and briefings on virtual care and innovation learnings to internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate innovation and digital initiative meetings and workshops with stakeholders.
  • Line manage and lead project delivery team members.
  • Write and present high-quality innovation outputs.
  • Work with industry and strategic partners to identify and develop new project proposals, grants, and concepts.

About you

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in a similar role and will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in health or aged care sector.
  • Expertise and experience in the implementation of virtual care at scale within health and/or aged care.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and project management including communicating a vision, planning, setting and adjusting priorities and resourcing to coordinate complex work programs in an environment of firm deadlines, stringent quality and compliance requirements, and leading delivery teams to achieve target outcomes.
  • Commercial acumen and ability to analyse costs and benefits of projects and programs.
  • Familiarity with innovation process, methods, tools, templates and outputs and leading others to develop innovation capabilities.
  • Understanding of health and/or aged care technology ecosystem, emerging technologies and demonstrated experience in technology assessments and working with clinicians to implement new service models.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and proven ability to produce high quality outputs as well as leading others to produce such outputs.
  • Ability to navigate large and geographically dispersed organisations to access expertise and remove blockers and impediments to innovation delivery.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills at both strategic and operational levels, including the ability to work within a collaborative team, and to negotiate, influence and interact effectively with senior executives and external partners.
