You will be responsible for advising them on how to combine structural, operational, and people-focused risk management approaches to manage physical climate risk across their footprint including their supply chain.

You will be supported by experts in natural catastrophe modelling, climate analytics, and climate science, and a fast-growing team of consultants across the region in Marsh Advisory, along with access to the broader insurance insights and capabilities of Marsh and the whole of Marsh McLennan.

What is in it for you?

  • Opportunity to engage with the biggest companies across Australia, New Zealand and Asia on a topic you are passionate about – building resilience to a rapidly changing climate. Marsh’s role as a trusted risk partner enables us unparalleled access to top tier clients and their management teams.

  • The potential to build a world leading adaptation value proposition for corporate clients and support them build resilience, not only disclose risks.

  • Excellent growth opportunities in both growing the overall practice in Australia/New Zealand and expanding your expertise to support global clients via the APAC COE.

  • Opportunities to contribute to the global Marsh Climate COE.

  • Leading training and development programs, and a culture of continuous learning.

  • Professional environment where your career path really matters and is supported in our global organisation.

  • Work/Life balance with hybrid working conditions.

  • An inclusive and vibrant team environment with passionate, energetic, and supportive colleagues.

We will count on you to:

  • Act as a key member of both Marsh Pacific’s Strategic Risk Consulting leadership group, as well as the APAC COE on climate risk.

  • Lead and contribute to adaptation consulting projects across the APAC region where you have established credibility and experience.

  • Develop strong internal networks to build an integrated adaptation value proposition across Marsh Advisory services including engineering and resilience.

  • Build Marsh Climate & Sustainability’s external presence and visibility in the APAC region on the topic of climate adaptation, provide thought leadership on the subject, and develop industry and academic networks.

  • Apply strong communication and influencing skills – capable of presenting complex analytical topics across all levels of an organisation including senior stakeholders (boards of directors and C-suite).

  • Develop junior team members to support the delivery of climate change solutions to meet client needs and grow their capabilities and skills in physical climate risk.

What we would like you to have:

  • Strong background in resilience and climate adaptation services, and significant experience in turning analytics into decision-relevant advice to corporates on how to reduce the impacts of climate change over time.

  • Excellent understanding of the science of climate change and the modelling of its physical impact, including the application and interpretation of GCMs, RCMs, down-scaling methods, hazard modelling, and how this is applied to assess impacts on physical assets and supply chains.

  • Strong external presence building Marsh’s name in climate adaptation and highlighting the role of insurance and risk management in the domain.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and bring your skills to bear together with our experts from across the physical risk and resilience space.

  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues globally and our partners to develop innovative solutions.

What makes you stand out?

  • Experience in key industries such as energy and power, manufacturing, or agriculture.

  • Experience with adaptation concepts and decision making under uncertainty, e.g. adaptation pathways and robust-decision making frameworks.

  • Postgraduate degree such as an PhD, MBA or Master’s degree in an academic field relevant to climate change.

  • Exceptional client management skills.

  • Team development experience including hiring and onboarding of new consultants and ongoing people management.

  • Experience with natural catastrophe models and concepts.
