Jacobs offer a full range of Energy & Power Project services for utility scale power generation projects. Our scope of services is a mix of engineering consultancy including concept design, feasibility and pre-feasibility, design review, site investigations, techno-economic advisory services, and technical due diligence, construction management and owner’s engineering services.

Jacobs is on the lookout for a dynamic Principal Wind Engineer to join our expanding APAC Power Generation team. This role is crucial in supporting our clients in the development and execution of wind farm projects in Australia and New Zealand.

The scope of services to our clients include owner’s engineer, lender’s engineer, due diligence and other technical advisory services. The successful candidate will have experience throughout the development phase including site selection and yield analysis through to the execution phase of interacting with the OEMs throughout the engineering and construction phases of a project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Assure Quality: Oversee technical outputs by appointing and guiding qualified Technical Leaders for tenders and projects.
  • Develop Technical Framework: Maintain and evolve the framework of Technical Leaders to meet the discipline’s needs.
  • Inclusive Leadership: Implement priorities and goals that promote diversity and inclusion, ensuring effective succession planning and staff mentorship.
  • Shape Technical Practice: Drive the direction of our technical practice with future-focused insights and thought leadership.
  • Sales and Client Engagement: Provide technical leadership in sales, actively engaging with clients and participating in business development.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks in both sales and project delivery, ensuring adequate controls are in place.
  • Collaborative Excellence: Work with Technical Directors to leverage the best of Jacobs on every project, fostering innovation and excellence.
  • Sustainability Leadership: Align with Jacobs’ sustainability values, providing thought leadership to clients, markets, and staff.
  • Talent Management: drives a culture of learning and teaching and supports hiring
  • Strategy and Growth: Represents Jacobs technical excellence, including lead pursuits and proposals and presentation of papers
  • Connectivity: Connecting Jacobs global network of resources through the leadership of project teams
  • Innovation: Drives innovation through peer reviews, value engineering and sharing industry innovations
  • Project Delivery Excellence: Leads and delivers projects including oversight of projects led by others.

Here's what you'll need

  • Educational Background: Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field of study. Membership in a recognised professional institution, preferably at a Fellowship level.
  • Professional Experience: Proven experience in project engineering and delivery of onshore and offshore wind power projects in an engineering or consulting environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Solid experience in power generation projects, particularly renewable projects, with knowledge of utility-scale wind farms.
  • Leadership Skills: Initiative, independence, and strong attention to detail, with a proven track record in design management and project development.
  • Industry Presence: Recognised and valued presence in the discipline/industry at a national or international level.
  • Professional Accreditation: Professional Registration/Accreditation such as Chartered, RPEQ, RPEV (or working towards it).
  • Legislative Knowledge: Familiarity with applicable engineering legislation and standards.
