Job Description

We are looking for a  Commis Chef to join our passionate and creative Kitchen team on a casual basis.

This role will be reporting directly into the Head Chef and will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Kitchen department.

This would be an exciting role for an individual with a conferencing background and as this role is very hands-on role, a passion for food is a must.

Duties:

Assisting the Kitchen Leadership team with: 

  • Ensure food standards, preparation and presentation is a high level and meets Brand Standard guidelines
  • Dealing with suppliers
  • Ensure the highest possible standard of hygiene is practiced and maintained to meet Health & Safety regulations and HACCP food preparation guidelines.
  • Cultivate a positive work environment where learning and personal development are benchmarks by which quality improvement is driven.
  • Working across our conferencing department as well as buffet and a la cart breakfast and room service
  • Co-ordination of the stewarding team to meet the kitchen’s requirements

Qualifications

About You:

  • Hotel experience desirable
  • Commercial Kitchen experience
  • Experience managing multiple sections
  • Experience in Pans, Grill, Entrees and Desserts
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Experience with Conference & Events
  • Able to manage the kitchen in the absence of the Sous Chef and Head Chef
  • A keen eagerness and desire to create good food
