ABOUT THE OFFICE
The National School of Arts and Sciences is one of two national schools in the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, Law and Business. The National School is based on two distinct campuses in Fremantle and Sydney. The School of Arts and Sciences delivers a practical, ethical and industry-focused education in diverse areas of study such as the liberal arts, communications and media, counselling and science, with a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs on offer.
 
ABOUT THE ROLE
The School of Arts & Sciences are seeking an academically qualified candidate with teaching experience in tertiary education to join the School on our Sydney campus on a 5 month Fixed term role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects in the scholar’s area of discipline expertise.
  • High quality research outputs aligned with the University’s and FASLB Research Plan and priorities of the UNDA Strategic Plan.
  • The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshop, student field excursions, clinical sessions and studio sessions.
  • Supervision of the program of study of honours students or of postgraduate students engaged in course work.
  • Development of course material with appropriate advice from and support of more senior staff.
  • A range of administrative functions the majority of which are connected with the subjects in which the academic teaches.
  • Conduct of research and involvement in professional activity.

About You
Qualifications & Experience

  • A doctoral degree or equivalent accreditation and standing appropriate to the History discipline
  • Specific qualifications, registrations, expertise in Australian History, Aboriginal Australian perspectives in History, Modern History and Academic Writing Skills (equivalent to the ARTS1000 course curriculum — introduction to academic style, referencing, integrity, written and spoken voice, confidence in critical thinking and evidence-based responses).
  • Collaborative and complementary experience fitting the Sydney campus teaching staff.
  • Significant experience in tertiary education or the equivalent industry experience in the relevant discipline area. 

 
Knowledge, skills & abilities

  • Proven ability to prepare, coordinate and deliver high quality teaching and learning in undergraduate programs, including the ability to produce curriculum informed by contemporary developments in social justice and related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural awareness, safety and security, especially when engaging professionally with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
