APS6 Senior Governance Officer

12-month contract | Canberra Location | $55.51 - $61.99 per hour plus 11% superannuation

OVERVIEW

Our Federal Government client is currently seeking an experienced Senior Governance Officer to join their team at the APS6 level. Within this role you will assist with a range of governance related activities, including the department’s risk management framework, internal audit program, and secretariat support for governance and audit committees.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordination of the drafting of the annual report, corporate plan, operational report, annual performance and portfolio budget statements.
  • Reviewing performance measures for corporate reporting in line with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act).
  • Collecting information from multiple line areas and preparing briefs and reports for senior management and internal committees.
  • Consulting and collaborating with staff from across the department, including providing guidance and assistance.
  • Supervising staff (where required).

EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a high attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to liaise with and build productive relationships with staff across the agency and with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage projects and display good judgement.
  • An understanding or ability to quickly gain an understanding of:
    • The department’s role in the Australian research landscape and the associated strategic direction and priorities of the agency.
    • Governance practices and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
