About you
 

The Plastics Clinical Nurse is an integral part of the Peri-operative team, whose role encompasses the delivery of either direct or indirect patient care. In this role you will be:

  • Providing support, mentor, direction, orientation and education to Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Graduate nurses and students in the speciality of Plastic Surgery.
  • Responsible for planning and coordinating services relating to Plastic Surgery services provided by the Calvary Adelaide Hospital in both the Main Theatres and in Day Surgery Suite.
  • Acting as a role model in the provision of care to patients.
  • Other selected duties as allocated by the Clinical Manager.
  • At times review, create and update policies, work instructions and participate in the audit process.
  • Provide safe, effective and appropriate patient care in a patient-focused environment.
  • Ensure all aspects of patient care services are of the highest standard.
  • Take a key role in the leadership of the unit, be an accountable and autonomous nurse; act in the best interests of your patients at all times and take personal responsibility for your actions and decisions.

What you bring 

  • Ideal candidate would have 3+ years’ previous experience in a peri-operative environment, previous Clinical Nurse experience highly valued, not essential
  • Provide leadership and education to staff, students, patients and relatives within the Main Theatre and Day Surgery Theatre.
  • Ensure the adherence of clinical standards and application of principles of best practice, to maximise high quality patient outcomes.
  • Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, workplace health and safety and ethical behaviour.
  • Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • Effectively engage with people and communities from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation

Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  2. Demonstrated leadership and management ability including the capacity to initiate and support change within a team framework.
  3. Knowledge of:
    1. National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
    2. Occupational Health and Safety legislation
    3. Quality Improvement processes
  4. Well-developed organisational and decision-making skills.
  5. Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating nursing policies and procedures.
  6. Skilled in written and verbal communications.
