About the role

Origin Energy is hiring a Terminal Fitter in Cairns to deliver programmed and non-programmed maintenance, inspection, and testing of plant and equipment at the Cairns terminal. This role ensures the terminal remains safe, compliant, and fully operational through preventative, corrective, and non-routine maintenance tasks. With a strong focus on safety and OH&S compliance, the Terminal Fitter will help Origin meet customer needs across the region by maintaining the availability and regulatory compliance of terminal assets.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and testing of plant and equipment, ensuring timely and competent execution, with appropriate record-keeping.
  • Develop Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for non-procedural work, completing necessary risk assessments and identifying suitable controls.
  • Maintain the safe condition and compliance of terminal facilities, ensuring continuous operation and equipment integrity.
  • Submit documentation to specified managers promptly and accurately.
  • Complete work orders in SAP and proactively identify and report issues requiring unscheduled maintenance or presenting unsafe conditions.
  • Supervise tradespeople and contractors, adhere to written procedures and work processes, and participate in safety meetings, HSE training, and the performance appraisal system.

 

What will you bring?

  • Engineering trade certification in Fitter & Turner, Boilermaker, or similar qualification
  • Current class 3 driver’s license
  • Extensive mechanical maintenance experience
  • Understanding of gas or fuel terminal operations
  • Excellent people skills, inspiring others to deliver results
  • Proficiency in computer technology and clear communication abilities
